BlockBuster Trades Empty
PostSubject: BlockBuster Trades   BlockBuster Trades EmptyWed Aug 22, 2012 6:46 pm

It has been a common sight so far this offseason a number of top tier playes have switched jersey from top defenseman Shea Weber to NHL MVP Evgeni Malkin.

The hockey world was in shock after The Minnesota Wild shipped of its new prized acquisition Zach Parise and his mammoth 13 year deal to the Detroit Red Wings. In return the Wild got Forwards Johan Franzen, Valtteri Filppula and Defenseman Ian White. And it appears that before Parise will play a game with the Wings he will be shipped off to The Washington Capitals, the deal is still being finalized but is expected to be passed.
Another blockbuster deal was posted on the same day, this deal featured some high end former 1st round picks Matt Duchene, Erik Johnson and 1st overall pick in Junes draft Nial Yakupov. The deal sends Duchene and Johnson to the Oilers for Yakupov, defenseman Ladislav Smid, Jeff Petry and Forward Ben Eager. Johnson was later traded back to the Avalanche.
Capitals General Manager Findlay pulled off a Giant blockbuster on Friday afternoon, this deal was headed by Russian superstar Alex Ovechkin heading to the Boston Bruins who gave up a chunk of their future to get their hands on his talent. Defenseman Dmitry Orolov was sent packing along with Ovechkin. Coming to Washington was Young studs Tyler Seguin and Dougie Hamilton and Malcolm Subban. Boston's first round pick as also included in the deal.
One hour after dealing superstar Alex Ovechkin GM Findlay wasn't finished for the day just yet he sent Mike Green and Wojtek Wolski packing to the Oilers in exchange for Erik Johnson, Magnus Paajarvi, Nikolai Khabibulin, and The Oilers 1st round pick in this year's draft. It appears that with today's two big trades The Capitals are headed into a rebuild.
The Minnesota Wild made another big deal one day after dealing Zach Parise this time trading away captain Mikko Kouivu and top prospect Defenseman Matt Dumba to The Anaheim Ducks for forwards Ryan Getzlaf and Andrew Cogliano
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Carolina Hurricanes made another deal this summer involving some of the same players. The Penguins got back Jordan Staal and the Hurricanes got back Brandon Sutter, they also received Chris Kunitz. I question both GM's on this trade due to the fact that Sutter was dealt to the Pens along with a 1st round pick for Staal and they were traded back to their former teams two months after the first trade.

Capitals GM Findlay made another big trade this time acquiring Evgeni Malkin and Matt Niskanen from the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Capitals shipped out the Swedish Nick Backstrom, Zach Hammil, Magnus Parjarvi, Karl Alzner, and prospect Jaynen Rissling
The Detroit Red Wings have moved centre Henrik Zetterberg to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a great up and coming player in Ryan O'Reilly and defensive prospect Stefan Elliot.
The Caps made another big move this time and apear now to be turning out of a rebuild by acquiring perennial Norris Trophy Candidate Shea Weber. Headed to the music city is young star Tyler Seguin and a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.
Late Monday Afternoon the NHL world shook when The Oilers, Avalanche, and Capitals made a huge 3 way trade. Headlining the Trade was Calder Trophy Finialist Ryan Nugent Hopkins and winner Gabriel Landeskog . The full Trade is below
